David A Wheelwright

David A Wheelwright, passed away at the age of 73 on January 19, 2024 at his home in Pueblo West, Colorado after ailing health and a brief illness. David was formerly a resident of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. David was born in the town of Weymouth, Massachusetts. He lived all over the United States growing up, but called Hull, Massachusetts his home. David's career began at South Shore Printing in Scituate, Massachusetts within the newspaper pressroom while attending Hull High School. Over the years he worked for various newspaper printing companies in several states establishing a solid reputation for award winning production quality, dependability, and mechanical proficiency. Well-liked and sought after, his career as production manager brought him to Maryland, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, Arizona, and finally Colorado. He joined the management team at the Pueblo Chieftain and retired from there in 2014. David gained many close lifelong friends along the way especially from Arizona and Colorado. David loved the water. He spent a lot of time at Liberty Point in Colorado and enjoyed watching the Atlantic Ocean at Hull gut in Massachusetts. He had a passion for fishing. David would go on fishing trips with his buddies from Arizona and with his brothers when he was in Boston. David loved his family immensely and always looked forward to the many get family gatherings over the years. He leaves behind his mother, Virginia Clay (Jason) of Hull, Massachusetts; brothers Richard Wheelwright of Mendon, Massachusetts and Paul Clay also of Hull. He was predeceased by his brother John Wheelwright. David had four children, Marion Herlihy and her husband Timothy of Kingston, Massachusetts; David Wheelwright of Pueblo West, Colorado; Nicole Adkins and her husband Scott of Camden, Arkansas; and Richard Wheelwright also of Pueblo West, Colorado. He was a proud ‘Papa’ to his grandson Christopher Remillard and granddaughter Rian Herlihy. David was a bonus grandfather to the Adkins girls; Emalyn, Anna Kate, Danni Claire, and Ruby June. His beloved dachshund, Brindle; named for the color of his coat, was David’s shadow and accompanied him where ever he went. David and Brindle traveled to Boston many times to visit family, they were always together. David leaves behind the mother of his children; Margaret Wheelwright (Vecchione) and Linda Wheelwright (Joy). He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. At his request, there will be no services. At the time of publication, David's mother, Virginia Clay, passed eight days later on January 27, 2024.
