Luzetta E Vickerman

Heaven has a new angel, Luzetta E. Vickerman, age 87, departed this life peacefully at her home on May 22, 2019. Luzetta was born in Westcliffe, CO on October 12, 1931 to Edward Paul Henrich Lensch and Erna Bertha Pauline Schulze Lensch. She married George A. Vickerman on May 23, 1954 and had one child, Wilma Vickerman. Luzetta was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Erna Lensch; her stepmother, Erna Amelia Margaret Lange Lensch; and her aunt, Anna K. Reichwald Lensch, who helped raise her from birth to six years of age; her husband of 47 years, George Vickerman; brother, George E. Lensch and sister, Cardine Green. She is survived by her daughter, Wilma, Vickerman; grandson, Travis Olguin; granddaughter, Kristen Olguin (Alex Ashby); great-grandson - the joy of her life, Zenyth Oliver Olguin; former son-in-law, Victor (Candi) Olguin; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved and not to be forgotten… her beloved dog, Walker. Luzetta loved to spend time with family and friends. She loved to cook, bake, sew and have a big garden. She was very crafty and made all sorts of things we still treasure today. She was very proud of her multiple purple and blue ribbons she won at the Colorado State Fair. Luzetta won many times in the categories of knitting, sewing, canned goods, beef jerky, wine and homemade candy. She loved playing cards, working in the hayfield, going on endless fishing trips - even though she didn’t fish! She was also a caregiver for many. Luzetta decided to move from Westcliffe to be closer to her family in 2013. She truly missed the valley, but was fortunate to find a wonderful home and community in Pueblo West with roots to Westcliffe, including Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Luzetta was a very kind-hearted and giving woman, who loved God, family and friends; she will be missed by all. A special thanks to caregivers Linda and Andrea, who took such wonderful care of her; Dr. Bliss, Dr. Mackerrow and Dr. Reichmuth; Drs. Dernovsek; Kindred Home Health Care and Sangre de Cristo Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards a scholarship fund for Luzetta’s best buddy, Zenyth Oliver Olguin.
